the stresses of the new year over it's time to kick this along

OK ladies i know i made my first post here a while ago and due to a few incidents over the lead up to and after math of Christmas I just haven't gotten back here.

 Well to start the year off I am going to do a crochet tutorial.  We are going to start with a very easy project, a small afghan (or granny square) knee blanket or chair topper.

You will need two 100 gram balls of wool to your colour choice as well as either a half ball extra or if desired around a half ball of a contrasting colour for joining your squares. you will also need a 3.5 mm crochet hook.

Both these items can be readily purchased at spotlight or the like sometimes you will get lucky and be able to pick them up at the two dollar shops.

ok to start find the inner end of your ball of wool. leaving approximately 2 inches in length wrap the wool twice around your first two fingers ensuring that you cross them at the back.  then take your crochet hook and go over the top of the front wrap and under the back wrap.  this is all depicted in the above video.

then to start the first round you bring the wool towards you over the hook and bring the loop that was already on your hook over the end of the hook, this is called a single crochet. do this five times then pick up the first stitch you did, bring the wool over the hook and allow both the loops on your hook come off it. this is called a slip stitch.


ok you now need to do three single crochet. then you start on the next style of stitch, a trble crochet. to do this you bring the wool over the hook as before you then poke your hook through the loop created with your first single crochetsbring the wool over the hook once again bring your hook back through the loop and you should have three wraps of wool on your hook. next you wrap the wool over the hook and bring the two loops closest to this wrap over top of it and the end of the hook leaving you two loops on the hook. now you wrap the wool over the hook once again and bring the final two loops on your hook over the wrap and end of your hook. this is a treble crochet.ok do this once more then two single crochets then do three treble crochet two single crochet three trble crochet two single crochet three treble two single crochet then join to the top of the three single crochet with a slip stitch.
